Downgrade Boot Loader from 8.26 to 07.D0 with RSD Lite only

  1. Why do we want to downgrade Boot Loader?

The 8.26 boot loader protects sections of the firmware from being overwritten while the 07.d0 boot loader allows them to be overwritten. To make some changes to the firmware, e.g., changing the splash screen, you have to be able to overwrite a normally protected section, thus the need for the lower version of the bootloader.

  2. How to downgrade Boot Loader?

There is a thread on http://www.motox.info discussing how to downgrade boot loader using RSD Lite only. Basically what you do is to flash a .shx to your Razr V3 using RSD Lite and you are done. The thread can be found here. Below is a quote from the thread:

A fellow Modder on this site ( who shall, by his own request, remain nameless) found this item on a Russian website. It is a .shx file, written by Archy, which claims to downgrade bootloader 8.26 to 07d0 on a V3. The finder tried it on his own V3 and reports that it worked perfectly. I, personally, have tried it on my own V3b, after making a small alteration to the file, and I can report that it worked perfectly…

The flash file (.shx file) can be downloaded here.

How to create a proper PDS backup using Flash Backup 2.62

Using Flash Backup 2.62:

  1. Select the backup tab.
  2. Change the backup mode to PDS backup.
  3. Put a check mark in the disable compression box.
  4. In the bottom drop down menu select “select another” and then locate a file called “32 MB (08A0).ldr”.
  5. Then click “Create” button and wait for this to finish (it should take about 15 seconds total to create).

Once done burn this to a CD and keep it in a safe place as well as saving it somewhere on your computer where its easy to find in an emergency.
